Boy, have I been down this road before.... Here's what I have learned.
1. There are two aspect to the cable itself....length & "thow" (how far the cable can move). This applies to six packs for sure (longer throw), but may not apply to a 4bbl.
2. The fitting that goes through the firewall can be round (70 & older b-body) or square (71+ b-body or e-body) and it matters.
3. A good approximation is to get a cable for a 340/360 that came in your exact car (with a different original motor) BUT....(see 4)
4. It looks like you have an aftermarket intake. Some of those are taller, which requires a longer throttle cable. I think it's summit racing (?) that has a few cables which specify 1"-longer or 1.5" longer for high rise intakes.
5. You can use throttle cables from other cars (e.g. a c-body) and it's better to be too long vs. too short BUT you only want to be maybe 2"-4" too long or you can cause the throttle cable to bind up since it will be kinked somewhere. In my opinion, the best way would be to measure your existing cable & also measure how much longer you need it to be (but this requires removing the cable)....also check the "throw" of the cable.
6. IF your cable (the inside metal cable) is long enough to reach the carb & IF it has enough "throw" to full open the carb AND fully close....you "could" just modify your throttle cable bracket & slide it over a little bit.... assuming the outer cable housing will extend far enough. I can't tell for sure from your pictures.
I have extended short cables with a piece of 1/2" wide flat stock, cut to length, and drilled at each end to fit carb pin and short pin/bolt at cable end with success and "economy".
