I had my Thermoquad restored as I've never been happy with my Edelbrock. I cleaned up, blasted, and clearcoated an Edelbrock Performer I had in my garage attic. I'm about ready to switch the manifolds and carbs. While I'm at it, I would like to reinstall a factory linkage to the throttle arm on the transmission. I dug around and found a bracket/throttle rod from a '71 383-2V and a '77 400-4V. I mocked it up using the '77 bracket and rod. I don't know if there's any advantage/disadvantage to using the earlier vs. later bracket and rod. The '71 rod adjusts for length at the carburetor and the '77 rod adjusts at the throttle lever on the transmission. I think I have all the pieces I need except the hold down for the throttle cable which I just ordered off of Ebay (currently using a cutdown upper shock absorber washer). I just wanted to post a photo and get some input as to whether I am missing anything or if it would be better to use the '71 style. I just figured the '77 style was designed for the geometry of a Thermoquad linkage/throttle lever. I know the throttle lever is pointing the wrong way, I just didn't want the weight hanging on the linkage. Whichever way I go, I'll disassemble it all, bead blast it, and refinish it.
