Throw a prayer our way

praying for her and your family, from ours

May His hand of healing and mercy be on your family as you deal with this disease.

Good luck with continuing the search for a proper diagnosis. The answer is out there. +1 on finding a female MD, there is a lot of things that they can relate to as far as female issues.
A year and a half ago my wife suddenly became very ill with gut pain and high fever. After a couple of days in this condition she was starting to drift into a poor state of conscienceness. I took her to ER, where they administered fluids (2bags at a time) to reverse dehydration and sent us home. She was far from being out of the woods, since no diagnosis was made. The next day I took her to our MD, who after only looking at her for 5 minutes ordered an emergency ct scan. Thank goodness the hospital was only 7 minutes away. The senior staff gastroentologist took over her care.
Anyway, the outcome/diagnosis was that she had developed an infection in her upper bowel. If we hadn't gotten it under control when we did, I'd be a widower. It took her almost 6 months to fully recover.

I had to take my wife Lauren to the ER last night, pains so bad in her stomach I had to carry her into the car. CT scan shows free liquid sitting in her stomach. Which the dr said it is usually caused by some sort of cancer (ovarian, kidney etc) but won’t know for sure until we get the stomach biopsy done tomorrow. If you have a chance to include us in your prayers we would be forever grateful.

Ascites. "Us-site-eez" is the pronunciation. That extra fluid in the abdominal peritoneal cavity(it's not in the stomach) can be caused by a lot of things; some good; some bad. My prayers are with you both, and I will gladly translate "retro-peritoneal", and medical jargon for you to help you understand, like mopar nation 74 said. Fortunately to be on the positive side, treatment even for malignant cancer has come a long way. Knowledge can translate into greater life expectancy - my mother lived 9 years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Only took pain meds the last 2 days of her life. That was a 6 month death sentence back when I was in medical school. So try to not panic until a lot more is known. We are rooting for you and here to help. As an M.D. here on the board, PM me if you wish to speak offline at some point.
