anyone ever retro fitted tilt in their car? I was at the Pull a Part last week and saw 2 Dodge trucks with tilt and wanted to know how hard it is to fit one to my '68. I figure I can remove the key/lock and grind down the boss and fill the hole since my key is on the dash.

Thanks,
DC

HMMMM..this is a good question...im quite interested as to the answer...

We installed a 69 New Yorker tilt telescoping column in a 66 Charger years ago only having to change the mounting plate. It was basically a bolt in deal. Only bad part was the telescoping feature had to maintain the ugly New Yorker steering wheel.

I would think that an aftermarket steering wheel would be available:munky2:

I think I am going to try one. It will be a while before I get that far along but I saw 2 in Dodge pickups at the Pull a Part so I would guess they are pretty common in a truck.

Check the tilt workings as they wear out. The dodge truck tilt column was a GM part so you can go there for parts also.

Jaws, thanks for that bit of info, I did not know that. That means I might be able to use a GM turn signal lever with Cruise Control on it, I have a cruise unit off of a Aspen I plan to install also. Mine not being an original RR I am making it the way I want it. I would not do this stuff to an original RR.
