Hey guys, been a minute since I been active here. Life seems to be so busy anymore. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your hot rods. So I’m at a crossroads. I’m thinking of parting ways with my Runner. I’m worn out, timed out, burned out and stressed out. It’s a project car and needs a lot to get back together. For those who don’t know, it’s a 69 road runner 440 6bbl, 4spd. Bucket/console. I got 20k wrapped up in this thing so far so if I decide to pull the trigger that’s what will be on the sign. Tell me what you guys think or advice, pep talk or tell I’m just stupid lol. Thank you guys, keep rippin!

Park it, cover it.. let it sit as long as it takes til you are up for it. Think of the odds that you will EVER get a 440-6 roadrunner again without selling a lung and a kid.... if you don't need the money and it's not in the way.. let it sit.

Sometimes it's good to just take a break from working on a project. Go ahead and do other things for a while. I find that my intrests change over time. That's fine, to me it's boring to only do one thing forever. Between family, friends and life, I'm pretty busy. I still get the itch to go to the dragstrip and run my car, so I do. I understand burnout on a project, it happens. Don't do something you'll regret later. 440

I say give it 6 months and see if you still feel the same. This time of year isn't good for selling anyway. ruffcur

Even if you dont have the time to work on it now, it is an asset worth keeping in my opinion! Money in the bank.

How old are you?
Impossible question, statistically, how much quality time have you got left to enjoy a future finished car?
Is this current car a personal dream bucket list car?
Can you dump the car at a loss and buy a running $10K? car that you can drive/enjoy for the time predicted in the above second question?
These questions would give me my answer,

Step back, assess the state of the project, regroup and outline the what/what order things need done. If you need to, step back for a bit and take a break. If you sell it, you will regret it.

I have a 69 Coronet R/T convert. Bought it as a completely disassembled, some things done, some done wrong, most of the parts there, but some not project car..... Close to 30 years ago. I say that because I have been with my wife 25 years, and I had the car before I met her.
Started gathering parts, and working on it.
THEN... Life happens. Dad's health started going, met the wife to be, married, moved, changed careers, 2 kids and now 5 grand kids. Thought about bailing on it, held out. I did have good offers on the car, a couple of them VERY tempting. Just now getting back to work on it.
FYI - I'm 60+, and have 2 other projects as well.

I let two cars and a truck go in the last 5 years because I was burned out on them and couldn't buy either back for what I sold them for. I could have finished two of them for what I have put in to my Duster. It isn't finished either and will likely never get painted (I am okay with). Getting burned out again and haven't even started building the motor yet. This is likely my last car go round with the cost of these things.

Im 59 and just started to restore my 70 charger. Yes I thought of selling it a numbers of times. Hows your health, how your finances ,is it in the way? I agree with ruffcut push it to the side and in 6 months see were you are on it. JMO

Don't sell or I will never talk to you again!! Seriously what chance do you have in life to get another one of these rare beauties. Put it aside setup a dehumidifier and just take a break. Then when your mind is clear work on one thing at a time.

Also my cars are investments and will be going to my kids. I dont have much but I love my cars. I was never blessed with money but blessed to have 2 Mopars at this age.The charger is the 1st total restoration and last.

There is always regret after selling a project, especially a rare performance model.

If you don't need the money and can store it, it's value will only go up. I'd wait till it gets warm again and situation will change.

Also, this is the time of the year that is hard on everybody with the weather, Holidays, Family and the election stress that just happened. Good time for buyers as people need money as incoming cash is slow with the season. Wait until spring before thinking about putting it up for sale.

I like the idea behind the RoadKill builds, get your junk running and enjoy driving it. Being picky and wanting perfection can really slow a project down.

Sorry guys I should have been clear, this is NOT an A12 car. I was always dreaming of a hemi or 6bbl and the hemi’s are too far out of reach so went this route

Doesn't matter if it's original or not.. if you still dig it then hold onto it... life will sort itself. I have gotten rid of soo many cars i wish i could have back just cause i got bored with them.. or lost interest.. and hate to see you in 5 years thinking what if :)

P.S. being a normal car means you can cut it up and build it however you want... leave the numbers matching stuff to the boring guys :)

I agree with your sentiment, but also believe different strokes for different folks is fine by me.

Just went and looked at the build thread of your car... you have literally done all the hard **** that would have made me pucker :) And the suspension stuff looks killer... Yeah.. hang onto that til you are motivated.. take some small bites and some victories til you are into it again, that will be a killer car :) And i don't even like roadrunners!

Sometimes you just have to turn off the lights and walk away for a while. I built my GTX while raising 3 kids and life often got in the way. It took 12 years, and a few times it would have been easy to throw in the towel. I’m glad I didn’t though, next summer I will have owned it for 43 years. During that time I had tons of fun and connected with people who have become the type of friends a guy could only hope for.
