Timing chain slack

1968 383 rebuild. Two new timing sets (Summit & 440 Source) and both have 5/16" slack in them.
Any suggestions?

There will be some. Was the block line bored?

I did not have it align bored but, I don't know if a previous owner did.

There are companies that offer a chain and sprockets for engines that are line bored. Do you need it? I would say no. You could call 440 source and discuss this with them for an opinion. Did you degree the cam?
