i recently bought a summit gear set maybe 6 months old now never installed it because it was a 3 cam version ...got a new cam and when i checked the gear it makes a small wrecking sound...like the bearing??can i use it?

Sorry buddy you're gonna hafta explain

What's a "3 cam version?"

What is a "wrecking sound?"

You have the part no? Can you post a link to the specfic set you bought?

What engine is this on?

3 bolt cam gear vs single bolt cam gear Is what i assumed he was talking about . Have no Idea what he talking about a bad bearing or wrecking noise ?.

my intuition tells me that thing needs to be put in a box and returned.

So this is a Timing "gear drive" setup, not a Timing "Chain" setup?

Im pritty sure thats what he is talking about,
And as for the strange noises from the dogbone gears.... Just clean them out real good. theres most likely machine debris in them. Also the studs the gears are mounted to are machined long so you can grind them down for fitment behind the timing cover, and to align the cam and crank gears

Frankly I think the best thing you can do is find some local "hands on" help. Someone who is familiar with mechanics, not necessarily Mopars.

sorry about not being clear ...it is an timing gear setup(the part i posted above from summit )

You guys really should look at the link. Conventional timing set, roller chain

To be clear, those are not "gears." They are "sprockets"

I still think his best bet at this point is local help

???????????????
I see nothing about "conventional timing set", I seen "gears" which lead me to ask the question of type of setup.

Ahhhh,,,,, THAT link! Lol....
Didn't even click on the link in that reply post from the OP..... My bad..
I agree they are "sprockets",,, I'm not sure if any of the manufactures call them that though..... I always see "timing chain and gear set". Not sure why.....

I have no idea what you see. The link the OP posted is the screenshot below, which is a conventional timing chain and sprockets I don't give a $$$$ what Summit calls these they are not "gears" they are a chain and sprockets.

Grinding noise from the gear set when bolted to the cam would be bad cam bearings, pull the cam and gear set out and have a machine shop replace the cam bearings and clean and inspect the gear set and chain for wear and debris if you find damage on the chain or gear then replace, (also check the lower crank gear for damage and binding with the chain and top gear.) rotate motor and check the whole gear set. is it hitting your oil slinger? You need to pull the cam out and check it as well as the lifters and push rods.

You need to isolate one sproket from the other by removing the chain. That way you can tell for sure where the grinding is coming from. If it is the cam bearings, go here and check out my cam bearing install how to.

That is step by step instructions on how to get the job done.
the timing chain is not in the car yet...im just turning it by hand(the part circled in red in my abouve post)and it makes a small noise....

Did you lube the camshaft before you put it in? It might be a good idea to remove the cam and get some good pics of all the cam bearings and post them for us to see.
