Right or wrong? If ya use a tire that has a tread width of 10" then do you use a 10" wide rim? Or should the rim width be 1", 2"'s less than the tire tread width? Let me know on this guys. Thanks

The info on the tire you bought or are going to buy will tell you the rec rim from the smallest to the largest to get the footprint the tire is suppose to have. The thing you have to watch is the section width, The section width the tire company gives in the tire info is for the smaller of the wheels they say will work with that tire. I think the math is for every one inch increase in rim width from the smallest rim would change the section width from a tire that is stated at 10.7 to 10.9.

A bit cofusing in those links. My 74 440 Duster has 10" Torque thrusts on it in the rear and the tread width looks to be about 8.75". Total width of tire at largest point is app. 12".It looks and sets good but i'm questioning the CORRECT sizes. We're building a 64 Savoy sedan and we want it to be right the first time.
