Late year I purchased a like new 17" set of Boyd Coddington wheels with new tire mounted on them. For my 69 Sport Satellite SW.
Rears are 275/60/17 fronts were 235/40/17.
The front just did not look right, so I purchased a pair of 235/55/17's.
Took them to a tire shop today to have them changed. 20 minutes later a grungy kid comes out and says to me, "did you know that your wheel has a dent in it".
I said no it did not when I brought it in here.
So I go out to the shop and there is another guy with a pry bar two handed pulling as hard as he can to get the other tire off of the rim.
The damage was on the inside so I said if it holds air and can be balanced I don't have a problem.
He come back out and said it will not hold air and that I had to have hit a pot hole.
I said NO you damaged it. If I hit a pot hole that hard it would be on both sides of the wheel and not just where you were prying on it.
I pointed out to him where there were torn up ridges on the bead side of the wheel and that could only happen from you using that pry bar on it.
So the boss comes out and says that it will not hold air because the brand new tires that I provided are defective.
They put the old tires and my new ones that they mounted in the back of my truck . So I said how much do I owe you?
No charge he says, I kept my cool and left.
Heres the kicker, I took them directly to another tire shop and they looked at the damage one and said that it was blatantly damaged by a tire iron.
So.................. What would you do now? Or what should I do.
