What's with people putting skinny tires on these beautiful chargers. Get a 15x10 wheel and throw a 295/55 r15 or a 15x8 with a 275/60 r15. They fit perfect and give these cars the proper muscle car look.

mine had been changed to 15 when i bought it but i have 275 60s back 235 60s front fit good its all what you want

Because not everyone wants that Muscle Car look. Many people out there want that 100% original look.
The 1st Gen was not design intended to be strictly a Muscle car, although the potential was there. It was designed as a Luxury Sport Sedan with the 60's era "Jet Setter" crowd in mind.

Look around at other people's rides on the web. Go with you gut and you can't go wrong. I never cared for 14 inch wheel look on these cars. The body looks huge in comparison to the tiny wheels. I like your idea of going with the largest 14 inch tire that will fit. You are on the right track. I chose to go with 15 inch Mopar cop wheels. 235/60/15 in the front on stock cop wheels. 295/50/15 in the rear on Stockton 15x10 with 5 inch back spacing. Fit perfect and looks mean as hell. It's all opinion and what you like.

Sorry to say so, but that is a poor and silly thing to advise to anyone; unless YOU know THEY have the technical knowledge of an informed ´gut´. I know, I know, it sounds nice and feels good to say and fits vernacular lazy modern thinking..............BUT...
Anyway, for yourself, you made a choice you are happy to live with, which in the end for you is all that is important.

I respectfully disagree and let me explain. From the context of his comments he already has a very good idea on what he wants. If he is sticking with the 14 inch wheels, and it appears he is, he can't really go wrong on tire sizes. The wheel houses on these cars are massive He does not need to figure backspace or offset if keeping the 14's. He just needs to decide what tire he wants to use which depends on wheel width more than anything else in this case. Now if he is planning to change wheels and offsets, that is an entirely different animal that requires a bit of ciphering.

I know the "rule" in the 70's was- "60s on the back and 70's on the front", but I've seen that result in some goofy looking taller fronts.

I'd go with 60s all the way around.
