They will be OK until you get alot of weight in the trunk then they will rub some when you go over a bump.

I agree. And even if it doesn't rub in normal driving, it probably will with hard cornering.

most 60 series tires will deflect that much on cornering.i normally recomend at least a half inch.the nittos have a pretty stiff sidewall,so you might get lucky with them.

what do think would be idea 1/2" maybe ,the car will be run at local drag strip and few car events , the machine shop almost finished with the motor , the cam went flat , so we went thru again add roller cam with indy heads now 518 cubic inches , 60 over with 4.5 stroke 10.5 compression 620 lift roller , cross ram , should be around 700/750 hp area

I switched from 15 X 7 police wheels with 9" slicks to 15 X 8 wheels with 4.5" backspacing with 9" slicks. I had to roll my quarter panel lips in and they still rub a little on tight turns. These '66-'67 B-Bodies are a pain to fit a decent sized tire under.

I just ordered custom backspacing on wheels for my Charger. I set it up with 3/4" between tire and fender lip and 3/4" between tire and springs. I felt that should be plenty safe.

I could make my 235-75-15's rub and were mounted on cop car 7"s when I articulated the chassis on my 66...

Looks like your wheel lip has been completely removed. In your last photo it appears that there is open space between your quarter panel and the outer wheel house. I do see a line or two half way down on the tread of the sidewall. I'm suprised you haven't experienced any more rubbing than that. Racing studs...is your driving mostly done a 1/4 mile at a time? That would explain a lack of rubbing issues.

update . ordered new wheels with 5.125 back spacing I think that will work

Yes i trimed the lip of about 1/2 and i drive my car on the streets all the time. When weather permits of course..

Coleman, they look like they will rub. Mine has just a hair more clearance and they rub. As posted, depends how hard you turn, if passenger in the car etc. Also, if you are going to have 700-750 HP, I hope you are a good driver! I run a P275, 28" tall with a 700 HP motor and it's a handful, even on slicks same size. Your converter will also determine how little they hook.
