Has anyone put a tko 5 speed in a 68 rr. With a 4 speed trans and a bench seat? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated! I have the opportunity to purchase one out of a 68 HEMI dart clone. And was wanting to know if it is a big pain in the kiester . Thanks

Was it a Kiesler unit? what is the info stamped on the tag attached to the upper right bolt mounting the extension housing? Made to fit a Dart may not be the ideal setup to fit a B body....

@Kern Dog has done a TKO & a TKX...

I've been working on a few TKO/TKX's lately, On Thursday I was talking to a guy who paid a shop 12K to put a TKX in his Challenger... They made lots of promises but in the end didn't use the exact fit kit with the offset shifter, instead they used a TKX intended for a Mustang.... He got the car back and discovered the shifter is practically touching the dash..... Needless to say he's not to happy.... If he'd gotten a smoking deal I might understand... But he paid a premium price & got burned....

Can you get pictures of the trans & shifter? It would be better to know what your getting before committing...

I think that he’s keeping the shifter as he is changing to a TKS transmission. And I will get some pictures of it soon.

The TKO for a 66-70 B looks like this:

You can see that it has a cut in the top pf the case between the shifter and the end of the transmission, This is to clear the torsion bar crossmember.

The TKX is similar.

That is not a TKO.... It's a TR3550... The shape of the rear shifter location changed when they redesigned the TR3550 and renamed it TKO

Nothing wrong with a TR3550 but it's rated at 375 Ft/Lbs of torque where the TKO is either 500 or 600

Also the pictures show two shifter locations... You would need the forward location... And the rear location needs to be machined away to clear the torsion bar crossmember...

I just watched the video, really good to watch and would be awesome to have Silver Sport do the work (or Kern Dog). I'm just a bit far away...

I somewhat recently installed a TKX in a 71 Charger and an E body TKX into a 70 Roadrunner (shifter in front of the torsion bar cross member).

The install in the 71 was easy and without drama, shifter landed where it was supposed to.

The install on the 70 did require some floor and cross member surgery. This is probably more of a function of the motor mounts that we used (572 Hemi with Tin Man mounts) as it positioned the engine/trans slightly high.

Thanks for the advice. I noticed that you have a couple of six pack efi cars. I’m planning to do that to the RR. Do you have the Fitech system or something else? How do you feel about the performance of it?

Early TKO’s had 2-3 shift issues. SST evolution greatly improved. Only real EFI is Edelbrock. Rest are electronic carbs.
