I am getting to the point that I may be doing the same. There are not a lot of places here that better steering would be used much (other than avoiding other drivers)....

I'm about three hours from Phoenix but I go there once in a while. You're not giving me great confidence if it leaked from the get go. Where is it leaking the shaft, the housings?

Pittman shaft and valve housing on top.

Sounds like just an O-ring needs to be replaced. The valve housing I know a few had that happen to them.

I rebuild my own power steering gears and put the thicker reaction springs in that I believe the cop cars got. It really takes away that light steering feel.

Talked to someone who let his fathers 67 Mustang go to his cousin because he hated driving it because of it handling. Talked to FF this afternoon and will be sending my box to them to rebuild. They said they could turn it in a couple of days. This is a 100% number matching car (but a 318 so nobody will care but me) so I want to keep it that way.

They suggested stage 2. They said 3 is the next step to manual steering

They suggested a 2 for me also. Based on other's comments at the time, I went with a 3 and I am happy with it.

Yes.

I would not compare stage 3 to manual steering. I can one hand the 3 in my Cuda, but cannot do that with the manual box in the Belvedere.

I went with Ff stage 3 in the Coronet and I love it; you get the heavier feel like modern performance cars but it's nothing like a manual box. My wife drives the Coronet all the time and she loves it too.

Dick was concerned about getting me the stage 3 but since my daily driver is a 4 ton Dodge dually 2X, a heavy feel on his box is lighter than my truck.

I just installed a FF Stage III box and it drives SO MUCH better now. No slop, tight like a modern car.

Stage III is currently installed in the K-Frame should have it on the road in the spring to give it whirl.

with those prices your awefully close to boregson territory, i have the boregson box with fast ratio arms and roller idler bearing kit and sector support and would never go back
