Guys,

I survived the tornado destruction that rolled through the south yesterday and last night. Did my fellow FBBO's also survive?

My RR was tucked away nicely, I hope all yours were as well.

The tornados (yeah, plural) missed my home by 1/2 mile or less. The neighborhood destruction is bad.

Let's get a roll-call from all who survived.

I'm 15 miles north of Birmingham Alabama...... SCARY........ All is well here though, I wish I could say the same for some neighbors.....

My 65 Coronet and my brothers 68 Hemi Charger stayed safe and dry.

Heard this was really bad down there, glad your all right, all of you. Been thru one of those myself, scary such a small word. Ron

I sincerely hope everyone is ok, I was thinking about starting this thread to check on everyone in the affected region.

Ok here in NC. The yard is a mess with branches down and one old tree but could have been much worse. We got lucky on both of the two last storm lines that came through.

The devastation in the Chattanooga area is bad. I think the death toll is around 60 now. My power was out for about 24 hrs. Just got it back about 1 hr ago. The only thing near me is downed trees and power lines, thankfully.

Our Prayers are with all the people affected ,God Bless

Everyone effected are in my family's prayers.

All good here. Benefit of living on top of a mountain... no flooding and the tornados go around you. Got some decent wind with a couple branches down and a LOT of rain, but not too bad. 4 dead in the county directly beneath me (about 15 miles).

lots of trees down in south arkansas but family and charger are ok wifes truck got beat with hail though.

Thanks for the updates.

No one from Tuscaloosa? They got wacked hard.

I am just north of chattanooga and we had an EF2 and EF4 roll by after it jumped from Ringgold north to us.

I was out of power for 4 days (just got it at 8pm sunday) and while sitting in the dark, came up with the following:

Life is going on. Many times in life, circumstances can give you pause to think, I have come up with 10 things I learned during this distaster. Of course I learned more than 10, but these kind-of stick out.

1. Generators use gasoline faster than you wuld believe. Mississippi barges (or Mopars) are more fuel effcient and at $3.80 a gallon, electricity is a godsend.

2. You can always predict a moron parade past any devastated home, yet the morons in the cars do not know they are morons. Please be considerate of the people who have just lost everything they own by not taking pictures and slowing down recovery efforts.

3. Hot water is manna from heaven.

4. Lumberjacks are the toughest, roughest, most cardio strong people in the world. If you don't beleive me, try running a 20" chainsaw for 8 hours and see if you can move any part of your body without extreme pain.

5. One full-grown tree is 10 times more wood than you think it is. (I have 9 to go). A "free wood" sign does no good when you are surrounded by downed trees.

6. Gas grills can save your life and possibly your marriage.

7. Never underestimate the power of a team of 100 volunteers. They can make miracles happen in very short order.

8. Clocks that set themselves are the best invention ever. Especially if you turn the power off to save gas.

9. Anything can fly if there is enough wind. I really mean ANYTHING!

10. If you have your family you can overcome any disater. That is what is most important.

Thanks for all your well-wishes, feel free to donate to help our neighbors at your local red cross.

Thanks for all your thoughts guys.
Randy

Those are awesome and very true. I worked in the woods for a short time and gained the same respect for the harvesting of wood. You will never watch Axeman with the same view. Glad to hear you are safe. We do live a sheltered life. Sometimes it just needs to be taken away for a while to realize it.
