I recently purchased a 1985 Dodge D150 and on the rear bumper there's an outlet for a trailer plug. I thought it was going to be the typical 4 pin round receptacle but it has 8 pins. Never seen one like this (see pic). Do they make an adapter to convert to a 4 pin flat? Or would it be better if I wired in a new socket made for the flat style?

Thanks

Never heard of it, trade it out for a flat 4 pin.

I have seen horse trailer plugs that are round, but they usually have the round pins not like that.......7 pin hookup and never look back.

Totally agree, 7 pin that has a flat 4 attached or an adapter to go to a flat 4. Will cover most trailers.
