That is scarey crap for sure...I had the same damn thing happen to me.. a 10.68 run @134 mph & bang...shook & violent shake at top end..mine broke clear around almost precise like I could unbolt the bell housing (4 speed) it ruined my ATI convertor to..I've also busted 3 tailshafts..at the time of me destroying things I had moroso solid motor mounts & a stock tranz mount...I now use a motor plate & mid-mount plate with a urethane tranz mount. And I haven't had anymore mis-haps (knock on wood)....I still have a problem of powdering my needle bearings in my U-joints...I'm using super stock springs..BUT I have NO way to limit my axle wind up..no pinion snubber..there isn't. A mount on my rear end (think it was a truck dana) & I bought it from strange engineering (omg years ago tho) I've even bent the bodies on my shocks it winds up so much...I think I may install ladder bars..even tho I love my super stock springs guys...oh and I also use the CSI tranz shield too

Either I missed it or I'm stupid. Did you disassemble that transmission?

Caltracs might be your solution to axle wind up....:edgy:

Caltracs huh? I've seen them on a few mopars...are they worth it or would ladder bar set up be more advantageous? Have a 498 cid. With 8/71-24% overdriven..had dual 1150 hp dominators (E85 fuel) & am changing to a hat with alky mechanical injection now...so my superstock springs are really gonna get a work out

With that combo, I would just go 4 link and coil overs!

If your car is street driven, than Caltraks would be fine:blob1:

I did quite a while ago...... Didn't take me long to get things replaced.
This was from back in April...

I see. Well, where I was slowly goin.....I bet the overrunning clutch is toast. Better check it if you intend on using that transmission again.

IMHO I'm not a trany expert by any means but have learned, from my mistakes... At least put a bolt in sprag/over-running clutch in it, especially with a manual valve-body, or at a absolute minimum use a rear-band apply style manual valve body, like the Turbo Action Cheetah, it helps to protect the sprag/over-running clutch from grenading, when doing low gear burn-outs & bitting hard &/or allowing you to down shifting especially, with-out grenading the sprag/over-running clutch....

I have no real plans for that trans.... I currently have the cheetah manual reverse pattern VB in my transmission.
