What's the right setup for the transmission linkage tabs? For 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4rth, reverse? Are tabs pointing up or down? There are some confusing pictures for 833 tyrannys out there...

I should mention this is in a 1969 Roadrunner

Dan at Brewer's sent me these pics when I asked for help with mine a while back.
He took the time to mock one up on a bench just so he could help me.
They've got a customer for life as a result. :)

I agree with all these guys, all tabs should be "up".
1. Put trans in neutral
2. Put tabs on in "up" position
3. Adjust length of each linkage arm (screw in/out) until all the three shifter linkage arms (look up into shifter linkage) are lined up with the "slot" on the shifter linkage housing (on either side of the linkage arms). The shop manual shows making a shim to fit into that slot & align all those 3 linkage arms (I've done that before), but I've found that you can just eyeball the linkage arms to line up. It's obvious once you figure out what you're looking at & pretty easy to get the linkage adjusted perfectly once you do.

Hope This Helps.
