Trans leaking into coolant and vice versa?

Hey all. It seems my transmission is leaking into my radiator and vice versa. I do not have a separate trans cooler, only the radiator. I have to assume, naturally, there is a split in the trans line(s) inside the radiator. Can I get away with just plugging the in/out for the transmission and install an external cooler? Or should I just repair the radiator?

I know I'll have to fix or replace the radiator at some point but I am hoping to put it off until I decide what I am going to do with the car. It needs lots of work, but I'm hoping to drive it some while I'm plugging away.
 
Plug the radiator trans cooler and add a aux.cooler.Make sure flush the trans and engine and filter change on the trans.Had it happen on a mini van and i disconected the trans return line and ran it into a clear line into a pail and kept dumping fresh fluid till the strawberry milk shake was gone.
 
Make sure you drain the converter too. If it got a lot in it, you may need to do it more than once.

Will this take care of the torque convertor too?

Make sure you drain the converter too. If it got a lot in it, you may need to do it more than once.

If the above suggestion will not work by itself, what do I need to do in order to drain the convertor? Pull it? Hopefully I can use the above suggestion to flush the transmission system.

Same question for the block. The radiator should drain well enough by pulling the bottom hose and flushing with water, but how about the block?

Gonna get pretty obvious that I am pretty green mechanically. At least when working on cars. So, forgive the occasional/frequent stupid questions.

If the converter has no drain plug, yes it will need to be pulled.
 
Thanks everybody. I took care of this on on Wednesday. Convertor did have a drain plug. Drained the whole mess out, looked like a pink milk shake. Flushed the radiator and block with water, new t-stat, new trans cooler.

Drained the trans and convertor, and left it open for a good hour to let as much run out as possible. New filter etc. and filled her back up. Gonna run it for a little (100 or so miles) then re-flush the trans and install another new filter to ensure I have all the water out.

I would have left it to drain overnight. A good 24 hours, not 1, but if you change it again in 100 miles or so that should be good.

The neutral safety switch went out on it, so I'll be back up under there sooner rather than later. I probably have 60 or so miles on it since the change. Seems like I'm "supposed" to flush it now!!
