I had my 440 in my car. Trans worked fine. Pulled motor to rebuild and reinstalled. Had to modify linkage bracket on bottom of trans to fit the new TTI headers I got. Now after all is installed car rolls back in park. I havent let it roll more than a foot when in park to see if the driveline would lock but it doesnt act like it wants to.

I am a little stumped here cuz I can start the car in park without issue. I still have the neutral safety switch installed which we all know means the car will only start in neutral or park.

So what gives? Why can it start in park and then roll back like it isnt.....

Sounds like your linkage needs to be adjusted. I make you a bet if you reach under your car you will be able to push the transmission shift linkage forward which will fully engage park. I had this issue on my car when I first put it all together.

Eagle is right, linkage...also check the bushings on the rods, if they are worn or not seated, it won't go into park, either.

Doesn't TTI say that in some cases a new different kind of shift bracket is needed when using their headers? or is it shumachers mounts I am thinking about? hmm have to go look it up now lol.

Some Z-bars may require modification to clear header.

Torque Shaft Lever - Applications with an Auto Transmission & Floor Shifter will require the adjustable swivel and the lower rod
attached to the torque shaft lever to be re-positioned to clear the header collector

@bigmanjbmopar you are right. I did do that. The instructions were saying that I had to cut the orig bracket and move it over 1/4" and weld it back so the shifter would clear the headers. Instead of ruining a perfect stock piece, i just made my own bracket and everything clears. I just moved my car put it in park and it rolled a little bit and stopped on its own. I punched the gas and the car didnt move so maybe it is locking. I am going to mess with it some tomorrow again and double check that it locks, if not, i will be here again.

Thanks for the insight guys!!!
