Opinions please on transbrake installation on cars that are ALSO driven on the street.
Does it hurt anything to drive your transbrake equipped car on the street (in between the drag races) Not talking about 90% street car and only 10% drag car but more like 50% street and 50% drag race or 20% street and 80% drag race.
Let us know your experiences and knowledge on this subject.
Thanks

As long as you don't mind the inconvenience of using the button to engage reverse you won't know otherwise.

Get one with a clean-neutral at the end of the reverse pattern. I drove one around for awhile. The button for reverse is not a big deal.

I wired up my trans brake to my reverse light switch works great. No holding the button down and backing up.

First time years ago I had a trans brake fitted to a box I took it home put it in the car and then found the problem of no reverse !!!!! next weekend towed the car 2 hours to the guys shop, put it on the hoist and pulled the pan a few times, stuffed with cable adjustment ect ect,,, then he says "You have been pushing the button yeah "??

:eusa_think: :confused2::no:

A couple buddies have transbrakes in their street/strip or strip/street cars. No problems, except parallel parking with manual steering. Hilarious to watch.

This is way different than the way I thought a transbrake was supposed to work. Would anyone care to provide an explanation is to how a transbrake actually works?

When you're on the button, the trans is in first and reverse at the same time. Let go and it releases reverse . . .bam!

It's ok if you only race your car but having to hold the button when reversing is a P.I.T.A. I am replacing my racing trans with a stock 727.

I put a 2nd toggle-switch on the side of my PPP shifter for backing up.

Sweet idea! Mine will be rewired that way shortly. Thanks for the tip.

That was my understanding. Did not know it would lock reverse out without the bottom activated. Thank for the explanation.
