The Original Hemi Charger Is On a Hot Streak

All of the original Street Hemis in 66 were 4-speeds. At introduction in Jan66 MoPar did not yet have the Tor-Flite beefed up enough for the Hemi.
I am not sure when the autos were available, maybe late April.
I do know, Back in early Feb66 I ordered a 66 Hemi Charger w/auto. In early May there was still no production date for my car. Since I was moving, I canceled the order. The dealership changed the order to a 383, and got a production date the next day.
So Torque-Flite was not ‘standard’ on the Hemis in 66.

Dealer salesman often don’t know what to do with special cars. And they make stuff up to tell customers when they don’t understand.

I thought there were 66 Hemi HP2 early with auto. I’ve never heard 4spd only on early cars.

Yes the auto was optional and 4spd standard. Was for every street Hemi 66-71.
