It is time for me to purchase some protection for my life and limbs. I have a 70' Roadrunner with a stroked 440 at 700 HP. A 727 is going in built by Dynamic. I need to know which is better the Trans. blanket or shield? The experts at Dynamic feel the shield is better, but I would have to bang up the trans tunnel to get it in. I want to know what you guys have experienced?

Need some protection for your driveshaft?:rolling:

I've never (and will probably never) run anything requiring a blanket or shield, but if the blanket is SFI approved and you don't have to take a BFH to the floor, it would probably be my choice. And unless I misunderstand how they go on, the blanket would help prevent scattering parts all over the track as well.

Bueller???

If you are building a car for the track use a blanket, If for the street use the shield if you can get it on without beating thr h-ll out if your floorboard. The blanket driven on the street with a big stall will generate alot of heat and will tear up equipment as well.
It still all comes down to what do you think?

My cousin races NHRA Pro Stock class and his opinion is that I should determine how fast I want to go, then let the rules decide which shield I should use. If I go about it the other way around, I will waiste time and money. Some classes you must use a shield and blanket, and they can be very costly. The deadenbar shield runs over a grand! For now I will hold off until I can get a better handle on what this car is capable of going. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a weight to horsepower ratio chart? Thanks!!!
