Transmission Mount

It looks like Darter6 has a different crossmember and/or trans than my 318 auto.

Anyone modify this crossmember to accept a later mount?

I've been searching Summit under trans mount looking for anything that is close, figured there may be a really close match out there somewhere, no luck.

62-5 transmission cross members are different stick to auto...

I'm not at a point yet with mine to need to order one...I have an auto cross member that will need modified for a stick application...Think I'll just modify it to accept a more available mount...

Possible you got the eng. brackets on wrong that will set the eng. and trans. back! check on which side of the block mounts (Front or Back)

Have you tried Kramer's for your mount. Plus look under the vendors on this forum. Good luck

I've called many places, some multiple times. I called Brewers again today.

I'm finding many list parts available, put it in cart, pay for it, get a confirm, then another stating it's out of stock indefinitely.

It comes from Scumacher, allegedly, but they don't make it, and they're out of stock of everything. Imperial Services made it, or got it from Schumacher, it appears they're defunct, website is down too.

There's a used one on ebag for $250.

I actually have Kramer's open in my browser. I meant to call this morning, after Brewer's, but I recall the same scenario a few weeks ago. I keep following up.

Another member sent me a tip on a source. I called them today, listed 1 left in stock, website stated no emails because it will get deleted. Please call for orders, no internet orders.

Went to voicemail:
We won't be here until probably mid January, don't leave a message it'll probably be erased.

I can't make this stuff up.

Looks like its time to break out the welders and modify so as to use a common mount. This is ridiculous.

Imperial Services is the only guy that has ever made these. He has shot himself in the foot so many times, I'm not sure what his status is anymore. All vendors get these from him.

I went through this almost two years ago. I ordered one from him and after all of the jerking around and no commutation, I canceled my order and notified PayPal. Got my money back and then got an email from him. He wanted to extend his timeline on getting one too me. Sorry bud, not going to happen.

Of all the vendors that listed them, they were out of stock and backordered. Classic Industries showed they had one in stock so I placed the order. The next day I get an email that they made an error in their inventory and it might be a couple of weeks. I gave them the time to make it happen and they did, recieve one and shipped it to me. So i was thinking Imperial must have made a run on them and that was it.

Classic Industries must have known how to push his buttons because they made it happen. Joe Shusy is probably the only guy that might have one.

Sorry guys, I was away for a while. That photo was from a 64 Slant 6 A body. But wanted to show what can be done with a bit of work. Some times you have no choice but to make it yourself.

Joe suchy did have them when I ordered mine, and it is still currently in his parts list of stuff that he sells.

Wish I had more free money...I woulda bought two or three and hoarded them!

I was going to order mine from imperial services as well, but the thought of spending $120 and then waiting forever to probably.not receive it didn't sit well with me.

I have no idea why Imperial Services has such bad service. I waited 5 years for one of their conversion cables for my 65 to the newer 727. I wasn't going to give up as I paid up front during Chrysler Carlisle.

are you looking for the stock mount or x-member if its the mount I have one from imperial services made of polly I never used and willing to sell

I just stumbled into Parts Geek and they show 3 different brands available both automatic and stick for $5 to $10 each! I am assuming they are Chinese or Korean so I would buy 4 or 5 just in case!

You made me look!

This is the Imperial part number for my '62 Dodge, Big Block, 727 automatic. I'm not sure how it coincides with the actual manufacturers part number.

You see they're not the same. I ran into this mount looking for mine a couple of years ago. Might be for the 904 behind the Polly or /6? You have to watch for generic pictures in adds also. That's why part numbers are important.

The Parts Geek photo above^^ is the same as a A body 904. 1 bolt ,much narrower bolt pattern to the transmission.
I just used one of those in my 63 B body that I installed a 70 904.Had to cut out and modify the cross member to make it work.I'll snap a photo later today.

Yeah, I knew the generic photo wasn't right. I got mine from Imperial, but I figure if I needed one, at the price, I'd order one just to see what I'd get.

Ok, now this is home made for my 63 Belvedere. As stated above I went from a Poly 318 3 speed to a 1970 318 and 904.
Using a 70 Duster automatic transmission mount. Cut, weld, fit and adjust pinion angle. The mount fit in the original mount box cutting out the base to slip the mount to proper height. Then making a bracket to mount the single stud.Trim here, grind there, trial & error to gain clearance so no metal on metal contact. Now this is a 200 hp 318,
