I am about to start the conversion from 727 to a TKO 5 speed. I bought a complete trans, bellhousing, clutch and all the parts from a 68 coronet that was being converted to a modern Hemi swap.
The shifter location out of the floor is quite far forward, i am wondering if anyone in this forum has made a shifter relocation to shorten the throw. Also it would remove the offset bracket between the top of the trans and the shifter.
the photo below is an example of what i am thinking about.

Lol good assessment

Here is where my tower is located and a picture of it in the car. I have the console and pistol grip. There are many options for shifter towers and shift handles. I would deal with that once I got it in the car with the seat in place.

I think you can move the shifter (you can on the TKX). Also there are a number of aftermarket companies that make different types of shifters that might be helpful.

The pics show where the shifter on my TKX is located. I ordered it that way from American Powertrain, so I have no idea what might be involved in moving the shifter location.

I ended up cutting the crossmember to gain more clearance. I did not have enough room to get my driveline angles correct. I used this upper hoop along with the transmission mount from Holley.

I'm sure the TKO has multiple shifter positions - look on internet or ring Tremec.

Changing location of the shifter is fairly straightforward on the TKX - I imagine the TKO is similar. You should be able to get it close to or the same as the factory location.

I have a TKX in mine.

I agree with getting the trans and seats in first. I have tried to search for b body cars with this type of set up. I have not had any luck finding anything.
