I'm in need of a pair of rear backing plates for 11" brakes with 2-1/2" shoes, Dana or 8-3/4 rear. I've found a pair of 11" backing plates with 2-1/2" shoes from a 76 pickup. No idea what rear end they came from. As far as looking at the photos, they look the same as any other 11" backing plate I've seen.

I haven't gone out to measure them yet, but wondered if anyone knows if these will work or not. They're about an hour away so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows if they'll work or not before setting off on a road trip to measure them.

Thanks!

Make sure they have 5 mounting holes, and the top ones are spaced further than the others.
I have seen some with 4 mounting holes.

Most likely off a 9 1/4 axle.

They have 5.

The only difference I can see is there are two e-brake cable holes, so they will work on either side.

I don't know if those are compatible with a Dana or not. I'm thinking probably not but don't know.\

It won't help but here's a photo

They look like they will fit. They are the same for 8.75 and Dana.

I've swapped them around no problem. As a matter of fact, as I remember Pickup truck 8 3/4, E-body and C-body housing all bolted in the same and axle shafts were close enough to interchange as well.
If the brake shoes and drums (2WD not PT 4WD) are the same is a good double check. Some C-bodies had wider brake shoes.

If they are off a truck and are 2 1/2 inches wide, they will work. Those will fit 8.25, 8.75(not a stock a body 8.75, unless big bolt pattern axles are used), 9.25 and Dana 60. Look at a couple of my ads for brake kits and the 11-inch kit backing plates are from trucks.

The brake support, or backing plate, from a 1976 1/2 ton (5-lug) truck fits the passenger car Dana 60 or 8-3/4" axle. A 1976 1/2 ton truck would have had an 8-1/4" (8-3/8") or 9-1/4" axle, and the brake shoes are 2.5" wide, whether 11" or 10".
