Has anyone added a popper to the trunk? I did the doors no problem but for the life of me can’t figure out a clean way to add one to the trunk. Key works fine but my fob has an extra button that’s begging for a function.

I plan to attempt this on my ‘70 trunk. I’ve got a factory electric trunk lock from what I think is an early 70’s C-body. It sure looks close enough to fit

If by popper you mean an electric trunk latch, yeah...I have one in my '70. It came from an 82-89 Chrysler Fifth Avenue.

yeah electric trunk latch. I shaved my doors so I thought I could just add a solenoid to the trunk to but it’s not looking possible that way. I’ll look in to other model latches.

I welded over the hole in this car....

I used a pull cable from a Subaru station wagon.

Thanks! I saw your video in other threads haha. Looking like replacing is the way to go, was just trying to see if I could make it work how it is.

I did it on my 68 Runner. Found the latch mechanism with control button on EBay years ago. $25. I think it was off of a late 70s early 80s Cordoba or something. The same latch mechanism was used for many years. Bolts right up. I ran the wiring between the inner and outer deck lid panels and through the hinge on the driver side and tied into the rear harness there. Slick and clean.

Pulling up, parking at shows and popping the trunk to get gear out is always fun and draws comments. Did they offer that in 68???

Chrysler ran vacuum actuated trunk latches on some cars in.the '60's. They were not as reliable as electric ones. You had to have a vacuum reservoir can, to make it work after the engine was shut off. I tried them on my cars, but was always chasing vacuum leaks. The mechanism just bolted to the trunk lid where the regular latch did.

I bought the same thing on eBay, probably over 20 years ago when the wrecking yards had lots of them.

Really? THIS is how you chose to label an electric trunk latch?

Come on, man....That HAS to be a joke!

The bolt spacing/mounting for all the Chrysler trunk latches is the same on any A B C D F M J body cars I've ever seen.

...as is the hood latch mount.

For a remote, you just need a relay and the same 12v source that operates the latch from the button, wired to your alarm/keyless entry system.

Yeah I just couldn’t find a good place to put the solenoid. Leaving the key working is a must. I did find one on eBay that I’m sure I paid too much for but I bought it because it appeared to be the only one on earth available. Off of early 70s B/C body electric latch that looks like it will do the trick and I won’t have to damage anything.

Thanks everyone!
