Getting ready to order up some new trunk floor pans. I was looking over the trunk today to make a plan of attack and am looking at the trunk extensions. Are these welded to the main trunk floor underneath? I have the bottom of mine painted over so cannot tell if there are spot welds there. What is the best way to cut out the old floor and keep the extensions intact?

The trunk extensions are spot welded to the main trunk floor. Each has a flange turned down, and these flanges are spot welded torether. You can cut the main trunk out close to this flange, and leave the flange. once the trunk pan is out of the way, you can either find/drill the spotwelds, or grind the trunk flange off leaving the extension flange. I hope this makes sense. Make sure you wear safety glasses!!

Makes perfect sense, thanks! I see those flanges. I appreciate the help. I don't want to do it wrong and screw those extensions up.
