I have a 68 Charger I've been restoring and converting from a 318 to a 440. I'm almost done and now it seems like everything is fighting me. I have my old TRW pump from the 318 I had. I bought the big block brackets for it and it mounts up fine. The only problem is now everything lines up with the rear crank pulley, water pump, alt and p/s. Does the big block use a deeper pulley? From what I've read the Saginaw is a better unit but the prices on them you would think they were made out of gold. This should be lining up with the front pulley on the crank. Am I missing something simple on my TRW? Thanks for any help.

I've always had a Saginaw pump on my car, but this is the way the belts on my 440 were when I first got it. The power steering and water pump were on the rear crank pulley groove and the alternator was powered by the front crank pulley and alternator pulley groove. I've since redone the accessories and replaced the pulleys with repops from 440 source and now the belts are the other way around, but it looks like yours will run just fine the way it is, as long as the front crank and alternator pulley grooves are lined up, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Mine has the water pump and alt on the rear pulley, and the power steering on the front pulley, 1970 gtx.

I just went thru this same issue on my conversion from a 318 to a 440. The 318 power steering pump pulley is different than a 440 pulley. The 440 pulley will line up with the front grove on the crank pulley. I bought mine from 440 source. The water pump and alternator should run off the rear pulley.
