Hi guys-I'm trying to install the headers in my 64 Fury.I have the correct 5 1/4 up and down dim.The 3" sideways offset is 3 3/4 which Schumaker said is ok.The k member is centered on the rails and the engine is level. The torsion bar is in the way.Do I have to disassemle the front end again or is there an easy way to remove the torsion bar.One step forward-two steps back. Thanks

I don't understand why you're having difficulty with your headers; TTI Headers are usually an easy fit into a 64 Plymouth without removing the Torsion Bar. You must be using some offset Schumaker motor mounts?? In any event; removing the Torsion Bar isn't difficult if you have a Torsion Bar Clamp Tool. This tool clamps evenly onto the Torsion Bar with 4 bolts and has a mounting surface you whac with a small sledge hammer that knocks the Bar rearward.

BUT...first you'll need to completely unwind the Torsion Bar tension underneath the lower Control Arm (3/4" Bolt) and make sure your 64 front subframe is on Jack stands. Then remove the C-Clip holding the rear of the Torsion Bar in place from the rear mounting bunk. After attaching the Torsion Bar Clamp Tool............using a hammer knock it to the rear and then slide it out of your way. :naka:

Thanks to the godfather who has helped me before.I've been out of power since last week-680 thousand still out.Any way I think M ancini makes the torsion bar removal tool.I was thinking it's a good idea to give me clearance because my side clearance is not in the recommended dimension althougk the engine looks nicely nestled in the Schumaker engine mounts.

hEADER UPDATE

I was able to sneak the pass. header into place-moving the torsion bar wouldn't have helped. The 5/8" the engine should have gone towards the driver side would have-thanks again godfather
