Good morning. My father has a 1970 Road Runner with a 383. We just hung his new TTI headers (1 7/8") on the car yesterday but didnt secure them down yet due to a possible starter clearance issue (his original starter is out at the moment while we fit the headers in). Curious if he needs to have a mini starter to clear the header or can he use his original. The TTI directions dont specify. I know I need a mini starter on my 1969 Cuda 340 when I install my TTI headers soon. Please let me know if anyone has any info/experience to lead me in the right direction. Thanks, Steve Z (SLZ1973 on the forabodiesonly site)

TTI Headers

I've got them on my 65 Satellite (440) and I had to go with a mini-starter. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

I have heard of using a first gen dakota starter (mini) for use on my 69 cuda 340 that will work and clear the TTI's Ill be using. Please let me know if there is a preferred mini starter to use on a 70 RR 383 that will clear the TTI's. Thanks, Steve Z

Were there different factory mini starters that came on the V6 and V8's? I'm not aware if any.....

Thanks for all the replies. I was able to get a copy of TTI's footnotes which has eagleone1983's info plus alot more. Thanks again :) Steve Z

A meziere starter will not work. even though they are the best.imo

I got 2 mini starters and they are about 1 1/2 inches different in length. The longer of the 2 would not work on a 472 Hemi Savoy with the TTI's. I am sorry that I don't have # of them but there are different ones.

mini

i was told the ROBBMC starter would work with my hemi and tti combo on the 69 b body. not cheap but suppose to good. hope so, it just arrived.

starter

I just went through the 'starter' battle on my 69 Super Bee. Used Hedman HPC headers and could not find a starter that would clear the headers with my 11" clutch. Tried 3 OE mini starters and the MSD mini and they would not clear. Found out about the RobbMc unit, purchased it and it fits with room to spare. The people at RobbMc were very helpful. I wish I would have found the info two weeks ago!

I just went through this with the GTX. The mini starter absolutely would not work and I ended up stuffing (and I mean stuffing) a stock starter in there.
