Turbo Slant Six '65 Belvedere Sedan

Nice to see you're back at it!

So what does your "to-do" list look like and what parts wise do you still need to pull together?

You better change to a lower gear ratio if you want 11's.
We ran 10.50 with only 12PSI on a 360 w/2.76, and it wieghed 3700.
Good luck getting to 2700, that'll be tough. Will it have a cage? any interior?
Doug

It's a pretty big list but:

-Get a custom converter built
-Engine and tranny put back in the car
-Throw the new leafs and shocks in.
-Throw a spool and gears in the rear end (gonna try 3.55's)
-Measure for driveshaft length, get one made up (or cut and weld an aluminum one out of a '90's rwd van)
-Cough up the dough for the turbo setup inc. down pipe, piping, i/c, blow through, bov
-Build a gauge cluster
-Electric Fan
-Hire someone to wire everything up (I have no patience for wiring).
-Lexan windows if I get around to it.

I just need to keep myself focused on it and stop spending money stupidly. I'll get it done if I keep on it haha. On top of it all, I have to fiddle around on the civic so my brother can race it this year, my grandfather gave me a 1987 Cutlass Supreme Brougham to daily come spring but I think the flywheel is mangled because its vibrating according to him, and I'm trying to find a job in my school field so I can start on my apprenticeship hours for the summer. LOL

It's not terrible there's things to do without spending $$ in there while you save up for the rest. I hear you with the no patience for wiring it was the first thing I outsourced then stayed with the guy that did it to oversee the rest of the big stuff.

Zero interior, all it has is a driver seat. Might bolt up a passenger seat once it's together. No heater, no wipers, no radio, fuel cell, hopefully lexan windows. This year there isn't a need for a cage, but I have a feeling it will get one over next winter.

Yeah, the rear end and suspension are getting finished up as soon as the car comes out of storage, I have everything for the gauge cluster, minus a wideband o2 and a boost gauge. Might do the lexan while I'm saving up money (it's not too big of an investment).

Are you going AEM for the O2 and Boost guage?

Either that or innovative for the o2, the boost gauge I might go the cheap route, haven't decided quite yet.
My buddy had the aem and it had alot of lag, the innovative one supposedly doesn't.

66 Belvedere 2dr post, /6 auto, 8 3/4, manual steering, AC (and it worked) with a ton of undercoating was 3370. Removed undercoating, factory rubber floor mat, front bumper, installed glass hood, pulled out the rear window regulators, hole punched doors and a few other small things here and there and removed interior except for 2 bucket seats...weight 2950 with the AC still on it. This is Texas after all! I also feel that the 3800 lb springs will be over kill too if you get your weight down to even 3000. I feel that too stiff of a leaf spring is better than one that's too weak and 3800 is up there.....but time will tell.

Yeah, we'll have to see when I get there car together.
Really and truly, if it gets down to 3000 I'll be a happy camper.
Not too worried about going fast right now, I just want the car back together.
Then I can dial the car in.

Granted mine has a big block,Dana,2 batteries, and a cage. But it's plenty gutted with lexan, 3120 empty. That is 420lbs. Cage 125, big block 200, dana 50, 2nd battery 45. You may make it.
Good luck

Ordered these tonight, no one wheel peels for this guy

Picked these up for the car today, just slowly picking away at buying the stuff I need.
Might order a nice set of new gauges for the car when I can get rid of extra parts
laying around.

Exactly! Also, does anyone have suggestions on a good setup for volt/temp/oil pressure and tach? I have some off of eBay but I doubt they will be accurate enough for my needs

You want new or used gauges? Since you don't seem to care about period correct appearance, I like Autometer, and there's tons of used stuff available...

As if it wasnt obvious already, dont waste money on Sun gauges. The voltmeter i had was almost 1/2 volt off and the oil pressure gauge started pulsating for no reason after about a year. All fixed with some of the lower level Autometer.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking of going for. Just wasn't too sure about what other companies had available, thanks guys!
