Hey guys! I need some help here. I just moved from Rochester, NY to Longview, TX this last week. During the drive down I had a few problems with the '74. One of which is the turn signals completely stopped working. Hazard flashers still work fine inside and out. However, when i click the turn signal lever up or down...none of the turn signals work inside or out. I replaced the flasher three times and I also replaced the fuse just to be safe even though it tested fine. Still nothing. The turn signal lever still clicks into position so I dont think the plastic assembly in the column is broken. I have to get this fixed asap as I only have 28 more days to get the vehicle inspected and registered in Texas. Any ideas would be great! Im not working at the moment so I have all day to mess with it but dont know what else to check.

Thanks...oh and its good to be back.

This is on my 1974 Plymouth Satellite 4-dr in case everyone forgot :tongue8:

If you've checked for (and found) power at the flasher's feed terminal wire, and replacing the flasher didn't fix it, you almost certainly need a new turn signal switch. Just because it clicks into position does not mean it's any good; when you drive an old car you're gonna wear out parts most people never have to think about -- the turn signal switch is one such part. Quick test if your car has combination red brake/turn lights in back (doesn't work on cars with rear turn separate from the brake lights): With the ignition off, step on the brake, verify both brake lights come on, then while still stepping on the brake signal for a turn. The brake light on the side you signal for should turn off. If it does not, the switch or its wiring is faulty. Try for a high-quality item, not one of the low-quality Chinese ones. Call up Old Car Parts Northwest (206-300-1083) and talk to Ray; tell him Dan Stern sent you and ask if he has a switch for your '74.

Ill give him a call tomorrow and check on that. In the mean time I guess I will start tearing apart my steering column to see if I can get that old switch assembly out. Thanks for the input its appreciated.
