I'm having a problem with my left turn signal. When i switch it to the left the light on the dash works and so does the turn signal lights except they just stay on. When i switch to the right turn signal they blink. I've replaced the flasher and it didn't help. Also hazards work fine. Any ideas?

When you turn on your left signal, do the front and rear bulbs light up? If not, you probably found the problem. If they do, check for correct bulbs and if they are correct, check your grounds.....and I'm not talking about the battery cable ground....

Yeah, sounds like a bulb or ground issue. Make sure they are grounding in the light sockets.

if the flasher you replaced only had 2 prongs then you have two flashers, one is for the hazards and the other is for turn signals. If it is two pronged and not three, unplug that flasher you replaced and turn hazards on if they dont work its the hazard flasher and I would find/replace the turn signal flasher before you buy anything else.

My hazard flasher was in a clip up by the steering column, the turn signal flasher was actually behind bottom lip of dash between the ash tray and glovebox.

I actually swapped both flashers the hazard on the column and the plastic flasher by the ashtray im working on a 73 roadrunner if that helps. As far as I can tell all lights work when I switch to left signal all the lights come one they just don't blink but when I go right they do blink. Is there maybe a ground that's not hooked in the dash wiring? I noticed a ring terminal attached to a steering coulmn bolt and the wire is pulled out of but I can't find any spare wires that look like they could be grounds. Damn I hate electrical gremlins

ok thanks ill look into it didnt think the bulbs or sockets could be an issue since they come on.

Yes, they come on, but do they come on on the hi element? Or are they just lit on the low element? In the flasher, there is a thermo-strip, that when enough current flows through it, it will bend and break the connection. And when cooled, will remake the connection. I'm guessing not enough current is being drawn to heat that strip. That is why I ask if, even thought the lights appear to work, are they actually on the "high" element?

Its very aggravating the only part I've left to replace is the turn signal switch itself. Everything works great for the right turn signal. Oh well ill figure it out was hoping someone here had the same issue. Shoulda known it wouldn't be thag easy haha

This is for all the wiring guys which I am NOT. Turn signal issues are:
1. Left front lights and blinks when I hit the lever to the left. Left Rear doesn't. When I hit the lever to the right, the rear blinks and right front does not.
2. When parking light switched on, all light except the right front is dim but lit. When headlights are turned on, front parking lights go off. i have replaced all bulbs a few times to no avail. Have no reverse lights either. This is really pissing me off as I am finally ready to register it and get it back on the road. New laws down here don't allow for a fix it ticket anymore, they are going straight to fines to generate money and they are steep. $ 100.00 for turn signal violation. i was hoping someone has seen or dealt with this before. If so PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going insane over this.

If either eliment in the bulbs light up, weather they flash or not.... It is not a faulty ground. Changing the bulbs with no results means the source of the problem is elseware. You've already changed the flashers with known good ones with no results...? This brings you to either a wiring issue, (broken or open circuit), or the steering column turn signal switch itself. (This would be my guess). A test light at the column gang connector might narrow things down. (If there is a signal there then the problem is down stream.... If not.... time to pull the steering wheel.

Thanks bluefury. A friend of mine who looked at it and stated that they are notorious for that issue suggested it was the turn signal cancel cam. he said it felt loose and probably was worn out. I'll check it with test light tomorrow. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Damn wiring Gremlins! I appreciate the assistance.
