Going to be putting the engine in from the bottom via a k-frame cart but I would like to crank the engine over before hand with the lakewood bellhousing and new flywheel, if theres any issues Id rather deal with them before its in the car. Just want to make sure theres not some reason to not do this that I'm not thinking of.

The cart has (2) 1/2" pins going up into the holes in the k-frame, engine is bolted to the k frame and there is a support in the back contacting the block.

There shouldn't be an issue. I started a Chevy 6 sitting on the driveway on the oil pan. But just to start it and run for a min .

Do the cam and lifters need to be broken in? Then don't do it because you cannot run it for 20 minutes like that

Just did this 2 months ago. No problems. Ran smooth as silk. as long as you have a rad and fan hooked up there's no reason you couldn't break in a motor. I my case I made a complete panel for gauges, ingition system, etc. and a mount for a rad and electric fan. I would suggest you support the K around the frame mount points though.

Trust me. Go through the hassle and cost of taking it to a dyno shop and break it in properly. Well worth it.
Use the cart for install only. "Why half *** two things when you can whole *** one thing"...Ron Swanson.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, the engine has been broken in already on a dyno. I just want to ensure the starter engages the flywheel correctly. I only plan to crank it over, not actually run the engine. But based off gkent's post it doesnt sound like I have anything to worry about.

Thanks reading all that made me laugh so it was worth it.
