Restoring a 68 Charger R/T it has two drivers side door switches and one passenger side door switch. Unable to find a wire diagram with two drivers side door jam switches. Any help on knowing what the second switch is for would be greatly appreciated.

The only car I ever had with two switches on the door was my 70 Challenger SE. The second switch was for the "door ajar" light on the overhead console. 68 Charger never had that feature so someone added it for some reason.

And that second switch is on the jamb at the quarter not the A pillar. Same on any barracuda gran coupe

it sure looks factory, the original owner talked about the ignition key area being lit up when the door opened and he thought that was an option.? Both switches pictured

The outer hole looks factory to me. Inner one,........no. If you insist on keeping it you will have to trace that three wire switch wiring to where it went. You will not find a factory diagram showing it. The factory wiring used the one with the yellow wire only.

A 68 Charger never has double door switches.

That mounting doesn't look factory at all. It is just in line with the factory hole. It's a different size hike also.

Yes that is a factory switch from a 70's mopar, but has multiple terminals.

You see the factory switch is on the angled metal and the door jamb has a special pad stamped into, the door also.

The ignition key lamp is an option, but it doesn't need any extra door switch to operate it.

Thanks for all the help sorting this out! I'll put it back to factory with one switch for the dome/interior lights. I have new factory wire hardness for it so I'll just wire it to the diagram with the new wires.
