U-Joint strap bolt size

Going to clean up a center section from an 8 3/4 I had sitting in a dark corner of the storage shed tomorrow, figured I'd chase the threads where the u joint straps bolt in (wasps thought the holes looked like good places to fill with mud), anyone know off hand the thread size? Figured I'd grab the tap on the way home... I'm thinking 1/4-28? or is it 5/16-24?

Yup....small tap so be careful with it if the threads are pretty nasty. I like to clean them with solvent and a small brush before sticking a tap in...

I don't think bolts are 1/4 inch. I believe 5/16. after taping just let us know.

Buy both and then you can return the unused 5/16 one. Some of us have chased those threads 100 times and have the new strap kits in stock in an upstairs drawer.

The 7260 and 7290 should be 1/4".....iirc....the 1350 is 5/16" if it's using the straps.
