Under dash springs???

1964 Dodge Polara. There are two springs just hanging under the dash off the steering column. What are they and where do they go??

Oh those springs... brake switch return springs?? :lol:
 
None of my early "Bs" ever had those. I agree with khryslerkid.Some thing makeshift .
 
OK, thanks for all the comments and information. I also have a 69 Roadrunner that does not have any springs. Pics included this time. I will remove the springs and save them for something down the line. Thanks again.

The later 60's power brake cars had this odd, nearly pointless anti-rattle spring on the linkage. It often fails, cracks and gets tossed. It has a specific shape, not like the ones pictured.
 
I changed from a B&B clutch to a diaphragm clutch and needed springs to bring the clutch pedal back up.
