Unnecessary gun range death

Very sad[and stupid] I believe there'll be enough hurt in the family, as punishment. Never an accident...it's always negligence.

sad and unfortunate accident. Does not make a difference because it was at a gun range. What does make a difference is the father ignored every single rule there is in gun safety. Im not really a gun guy,did take a gun safety course and did go through basic training were it is drummed into your brain were and were not to point your weapon.

Sad really, his father will never outlive that...
Knowing, It's his fault...

My deepest condolences,
even if it was just an unfortunate tragic accident...
Stuff happens, it's really sad...

And if you pointed it the wrong way you got shot. Point it no were but up range till the weapon has been emptyed and chamber upon.

If the report is accurate, a casing landed on his shirt and he reached over his shoulder with the
weapon in hand to get it! Unbelievable. How can he not be charged with criminal negligence?
Pointed wrong, finger inside trigger guard (if there is one) etc. Every basic safety rule broken.

NEGLIGENCE. There are no accidents with firearms.

No you didn't get shot, some drill instructor or another recruit got shot. From what i remember thats what happened. If DI called your name or wanted to show the recruit something instead of turning his head, the guy would turn his body and now his weapon is pointed anywhere but down range.

I don't disagree, I'm just choosing to not pile on...
@ the moment
Exactly, any man that accidently shoots his own son will live in more misery than any court could ever put on him. Leave the poor man alone, he's in hell already or at least any good parent would be.

I really feel for the guy, terrible thing to imagine happening.

Read post 2. I covered that. Don't be so tender, girls.

USAF anyone processing a weapon on range and loaded and that ment a round in the chamber and not pointed down range was subject disposal. Plain and simple.

its called a "numb moment" the case was hot he was being burnt all he thought about was getting said hot case out of his shirt .

not defending the guy but from all I could find out it was a genuine accident ,that's why no charges were laid. remember he has to live with this , don't be surprised if he tops himself out of guilt

Very sad - tragic - I agree with 747mopar above. This guy is going to have to live with himself for,the rest of his years with the knowledge he killed his son. Sure he could be convicted in the court of public opinion but why when the his guilt is the worse prison he could have. Very unfortunate.

well ... according to James Comey.. he didnt intend to do this, so there is not a prosecutor around who would take this case !
