I have a 1970 Road Runner 2dr Hardtop Air Grabber 383 4spd #'s Matching.
Im doing a ground up restoration on it and I want to make sure the car matches the fender tag.

The code I'm having trouble with is A15, which from what I can find is a Spring Special which only came on 1969 Models. But Mine is obivously a 1970.
Its a EF8 Green with the Green on Green Delux interior. I am unsure of what color the vinal roof should be. I assume is EF8 Green like the rest of the car. But I want to make sure. I did not even know it was a vinal roof car until I had the entire car media blasted and saw the original holes in the B pillar.

Any definitive help would be much appreciated!

Thanks- And I will post some pics next week once its been blasted.

Fender tags are read and decoded from the bottom line up.

The A15 code that you are reading as a spring special is not what it stands for, that is your scheduled production date which is Oct. 15 1969.

So, your car is not a spring special.

The second EF8 on line two is your upper door frame color which is dark green and the
EF8 code on line three is the upper body paint code which is the same as the bottom of the car so the car is a monontone and has no vinyl top from the factory.

The front pillar between the windshield and the front side window is the A pillar. The B pillar is the pillar between the front side window and the rear side window if your car would be a post car. The C pillar is the pillar between the rear side window and the back window. If you have holes on both sides of the bottom of the C pillar for the vinyl top trim then it was added after it left the factory according to you fender tag.

The Vinyl code would be something like this V1X = Full vinyl top Black.(at least on mine)

I dont know if you could order these cars with the chrome moldings on the C pilar, but then there would be holes under your rear window too.
The chrome molding that "seperate" the roof from the body.

I agree with 696pack. According to your fender tag your car did not come with a vinyl top. If there are trim holes for the top then it was added after it left the factory. If you are restoring the car back to original then you should not put the vinyl top back on and I think it looks better without it anyway.

Thank you guys for your Help

It appears that the vinal top must have been added after teh fac. .

Thanks for the education on the A15 code. I was running in to a dead end.
I just got the car back from the Media Blaster. I will post some pics tomorrow.
