Update on 66 Coronet 2dr HT

Looked at the pics-looks great! I am doing a 66 coronet 440 body and painted the car P-1 That is the original red from 66. I raced a 66 when it was new. I will try to get pics. I had mine soda blasted to bare and started there. Fortunatley all panels were rust free.
I saw that you ar dealing with cancer, i was diagnosed with lukemia after i started resto and it has slowed me down. Just like you my son , son-in-law and grand kids are helping. That is the best outcome of the problem. Barney

charger66coronet, I checked into the media blasting, but I live in a rural area and the quotes I got were too expensive by the time I hauled it to where they were. If you don't mind, I will add you to our prayer list at church. If had not been for the Lord, my wife and kids and the many prayers that were lifted up by my church, I would have had a lot harder time getting through the prostate cancer. And yes, working on my El Camino and my Coronet keep my mind busy.

This is a beautiful sight to behold!!! Removing the undercoating, adding additional welding and trying to decide whether to spray bed liner or undercoating. Needle scaler is doing wonders as well as a thick putty knife and hammer. At 49 years old, this is a lot easier than laying on my back!!

looking real good there thanks for the updates :headbang:

Impressive. Just impressive.

I'm hoping my son gets the car bug. That's him in my pic.

coronet340, believe it or not, my son (23 years old) has never been interested in cars. Old cars and hotrods have never impressed him, but, fixing, restoring and just staying busy is what drives him. I hope he enjoys spending time with me as much as I enjoy having him help me. I let him have a lot of input on what we are doing and how we are doing it, which lets him know that his opinion is important. He loves a challenge and as you probably know, restoring a vehicle is a challenge!

there's still time. i wasn't interested in anything but motorcycles until 4 years ago when i got this car. and i was 26 then. but i'm sure he enjoys spending time with his old man.
yea, finding time and money to restore a car is the big challenge! haha

That's awesome about the rotisserie and your comments about your soon are really nice. Enjoy your time together!

looking good thanks for the pics and enjoy the time with your son

Looking really good, I liked the spray on beadliner that I used on mine (Xtreme Liner) but wanted to warn you to mask everything off. Unlike paint if it is sprayed threw a hole like your shifter it doesn't dry before hitting the next object it goes all the way across the room and still sticks to what it hits (messy). I do really like it though, it looks nice and is really durable against scratching and even helps seal the bottom up.
