It seems like there should be some sort of cover over the circled hole. The front has an access plate that screws in, but my car had nothing for the rear access hole on either side.

I see reproductions of the front ones from AMD, but can't figure out what the rear ones would be called. Was there nothing there from the factory? Or if there is a piece that goes there, what is it called? Does anyone reproduce them?

The steel front access panel are for access to the front control arm bushing. On the rear access hole, Ma Mopar used a flexible fibre/rubber door. Not sure if they are re popped , but I have seen them at swap meets. They use metal push clips to hold them in place, as you see the small holes surrounding the openings.

Hmm the DMT ones are for the wrong year, as I have a 68. I wonder if they will fit.

yes they have them for 68

i just looked at their cat, it shows 68 & 69 the same,,also the passenger side one installs from the engine side, driver installes from the wheel side.

It looks like you have a 4 speed car, so the cover would also cover the access hole for the torque tube frame pivot. I reproduced the one on my Road Runner from an International Harvester truck mud flap which is the exact same material used from the factory original, you should have about nine holes to secure the cover with door panel clips.

Thanks for the help all. I ended up getting a set from DMT and since the weather was unseasonably warm I installed them.

Man those clips can be a pain...especially the passenger side....with the torsion bar and exhaust making it difficult to get leverage.
