I would also do a few checks to find out the reason for the swollening....check & make sure your bottom hose isn't collapsing....Check radiator cap.16psi.... malfunction enough pressure to swell the hose...Maybe just a bad hose?
When there is no pressure in the system does the hose feel really mushy? If so it needs replacing. If it's like a new hose it could be several things. Bad radiator cap, holding too much pressure. Stuck thermostat, stuck closed and not allowing circulation. Bad head gasket, allowing compression to leak into the cooling system. Think simple, sounds like an old hose to me...
