I am putting a suregrip in my wife's wagon. It's the first time I ever saw the little aluminum tag that says "Use Sure Grip Fluid". Is there really any difference than standard gear oil or should I use something else?

It’s an additive that goes in with the gear oil. Comes in a 4 or 6 oz squeeze bottle. I usually use either GM or Ford additive, but there are others. Go to Summit and search Friction Modifiers.

XL-3 is the stuff to use with your gear oil of choice, Valvoline , Redline...all great gear oils.

Been using Sta-Lube since 1973. Start with the gear oil and if your diff chatters or clunks when turning add the equa-torque.

I was able to buy the Mopar brand friction modifier from the chrysler dealer a few years ago. They may need to order it, but it only takes a week at most.

Any Ford dealer will have the Motorcraft. The Motorcraft was proven to last the longest without breaking down.

Mine was making noise, even with some old dino sure grip fluid I'd kept from the 80's. One 4oz bottle of FURD's additive and it's as quiet as a mouse. Postman is still trying to get that stink off his hands from the parcel he put in the mailbox though...

Yep, for some reason the ford stuff is endorsed by chevy guys, ford guys, and Mopar guys!
That must be saying a lot of the quality of Ford products if that's true. I have always sworn to and used Motorcraft oil filters & products wherever I can!

I was really just referring to the limited slip lube, but i dont have anything against the other motorcraft stuff.

Just makin conversation is all.

I've got my third member at Tucson Differential right now. He will give me the motorcraft modifier when I pick up. He said the motorcraft modifier is the very best.

I was installing a used sure grip chunk and did an internet search for additives. Saw that some people use STP additive, I tried it, and it worked. Cheap and readily available.

I had a buddy that used to restore old Ford Model A's, he used that as rear gear lube on all his resto's. I guess there's something to be said for that?
