I am wondering if anyone has any input on the differences between the 340 six pack carbs and the 440 ones. I bought the six pack handbook and am waiting for it to arrive so i would like some input from actual six pack owners too. i came across some 340 carbs locally for a few hundred bucks and plan to rebuild and use them on my 383 if possible.

I will definitely buy the quick fuel and promax parts to deal with the jetting and tuning stuff and understand that the 340 outboard carbs will "come on quicker" than the 440 outboards when used on a big block.

Is there any reason that anyone knows of for why the SB carbs cant be used on BB?

if you have them use them. i'd do the quick fuel jet plates, cheaper and serve the same purpose. you don't need the pro-max baseplates. the carbs don't need a lot of gadgets. the 340 carbs have some snivies on the venturi boosters that are easy to remove. mopar had some jetting recommendations for the dp6b intake. i'll look it up if your interested. i ran the dp6b in my 68 road runner back in the day.

The only difference in the carbs besides jetting is the rear 340 carb that has a fuel distribution tab. After the tab and jetting, there the same carbs.

The information on removing that rear carb"tab" would be great! Do I really need to remove it? Was it added in by mopar specifically because of some design issue with the dp6b and not a general issue with all intakes?

it was added for the 340 intake. doesn't need to be there for the dp6b but won't kill you if you keep it.
