When I install the valley pan on my 440 should I use gaskets too or just use copper gasket on the metal valley pan around the intake ports? It is a stock valley pan with stock iron heads.

Steel heads, I just use the valley pan without paper gaskets......I however use the purple brush applicator type gasket sealer from permatex.

Ok, I thought so. Just wanted to see what other people did before I went ahead.

did mine a couple years ago, didnt use any gaskets (provided the mating surfaces are clean and straight).

i just put a bit of ultra black gasket maker in the corners for a little insurance, and no leaks!

Chances are you wouldn't be able to get the gaskets in there anyway. As other said above, pan only with a little sealer.
