Hi everyone
In the near futur i will be replacing my rear drum brake for disc braker, i already have front disc braker.
My question is will i need to replace the current proportionning valve ?

On my 69 Charger I did not. You will have to get a master cylinder. I got all my stuff from Cass. Dr. Differential.

Do you mean i ll have to change my master cylinder ? I have a braker booster and a master cylinder with 2 circuit

The way I understand things, if your drum brake master cylinder has a residual valve in it, you will have to remove it or buy a master cylinder that has it removed already.

February 2022 issue of Mopar action magazine talks about removing them.

Is your brake system manual, or boosted?
You won't need to change your proportion
Valve, but will have to set up the new system
on either one of those two criteria. 4 wheel
disc will require a master cylinder with a larger
bore diameter. (usually 1.032-1.125), and
running a 2lb residual check valve to the
rear if you run the newer style disc system.
(the pistons retract farther on the newer stuff).
Also, since you'll be introducing air into the
system, when bleeding the front calipers,
the bleeders have to be rotated to the highest
point.
I just went thru all this, but everything on my
brake system is new, using Ford rotors, twin
piston calipers on the front, and Ford Explorer
single piston calipers on the rear.
Note the residual check valves and
proportioning valves in the bottom pic.

Thanks for the replies here is what I currently have on my car.
Front brakes are wilwood disc brake and the rear are regular drums

I see two things. 1-Are those copper lines???? 2-Proportioning valve switch is damaged.

I agree with pnora....
The proportioning valve you have is damaged.
If the lines you're using are regular copper and
not nickle copper, you are running the risk
of bursting a line or splitting at the fittings.
Especially during a panic stop.
It would be helpful to know (as RemCharger
brought up) what car this system is on.

how can you tell the switch is damaged what made you notice it
I m guessing copper but since i m not the one that installed that brake system i cant be sure

1971 plymouth satellite that had many owner so this is why i m trying to figure out what is needed to change/repair

Just look on line and you will see what yours is missing.

maybe it s the photo angle there is 4 line coming out of it and one coming from the top

It is look at the switch on the valve.

I don't see anything wrong with that switch. the plastic blends in with the firewall and looks like it is missing, but thats all I see.....should have a wire attached to it though.
