Does anyone have a good reasonably priced shop to re-chrome vent window frames? These are for a 1969 GTX. They don't look too bad, but against new black paint they'll probably look rougher than they do now.

Thanks

You'd be looking at around $800 to rechrome those no matter what shop you use, is that reasonable to you? I bit the bullet and did mine and they turned out awesome. I used Ogden Chrome which is a local shop here in Utah.

This is crazy money in my opinion. Mine will stay pitted forever. Who would not buy a finished car with costs like this to restore?

Give these guys a call they are doing some chrome for my 58 Impala a/c vents they should be done in a week or so I can show you before and after pictures as soon as I get them back. They have been around a long time do really nice work and are reasonable.

I think a grand is way out of line to re-chrome a couple vent window frames. I had mine re-chromed along with a pair of 68 Charger tail light housings, inside door handles, the wing vent glass bases and a couple other small pieces for $1300.00 last month in St Paul MN. Gary Dubois at J & D Custom Plating. www.jdcustomplating.com
Took him about a week and they did a great job on mine. The only parts I was not happy with was the tail light housings. The outside bezels are nice but the housings inside the trunk didn't turn out very good. Maybe you get what you pay for but I thought the rest of the parts were as nice as they get. Call Gary at 651 251 7400 He is a Mopar guy too!
It is best to take the vent frames apart and send him only the chrome frame. You have to drill out a couple rivets and pop the channel out of the frame but they go back together pretty easy. There is a guy on another site that had some pictures and directions of how to take them apart and re install them. Good luck

$800-$1000 to rechrome those vent window frames sounds insane. But I am curious how they arrvied at that price. Which step in the process utilizes expensive resources or time?
