Vent window frame

Anyone installed the repro vent frames? Are they junk? Should I have my plated? I’m ready to put doors together and the orig ones are a little tired. Any helps appreciated thanks

Have you had good luck with aftermarket parts fitting right away? I had my old ones rechromed for close to the same price.

No and honestly I’d rather not give tony any money...but I’m in ct where everything costs more lol

Pitting will be the only stumbling block. If yours are solid, send them out. I used a place in Florida but I understand you have more choices in the North. Fresh chrome will give you a woody.

if i can figure out how to dis-assemble the vent windows im going to replate mine, i have them out of the 67 GTX , i just need to take them apart, i have a chrome shop next town over.

It is fairly simple, you will need a cutoff wheel for the crimped posts.

I got a set from tonys. They look good but , like any aftermarket part not exactly the same, (note the top triangle area in the first pic) Fit was good, chrome looks good, but the screw holes where the rubber seal goes at the top of the post is drilled and tapped the wrong size. They are reversed. Don’t forget to order the epoxy he recommends. If you can save your old window rubbers do it. The repo ones I used suck.

I had mine rechromed by Advanced Plating (in TN) Cost $800

The problem with these is you can lose a lot of detail if you get a chromer that's "grinder happy". They might be shiny, but the profile resembles melted chocolate.
