Can someone tell me if the correct rivets used by Ma Mopar was steel or alum. ?

Thanks,
Joe

Also anyone know of a vendor that carries these?

If you are talking about 62 to 65 b body they did not use rivets they were spot welded if tag was off just glue it on

Joe, mine did not have any rivets on the inner fender or the door jamb. Inner fender was screwed and the door jamb was glued, hope this helps.

To answer your question, where used rivets are steel.

Well I can't believe I spent 25.00 for (2) rivets but I did. Now my question is does anyone know from the factory which way the vin. tag was positioned?

The row of numbers towards the interior of the car or towards the exterior?

Always visible from the outside of the car be it doorjamb or dashboard.

Here's the VIN tag on our 63 Polara 500.

I havent looked at it for ages but looking at this pic (taken by the previous owner, 6 months before we bought it) it appears the spot welds (if that's what it had) have been drilled, so it may now be stuck on. You can see it is positioned so the number is viewed from the outside of the car, as Dodge330 said.

And our fender tag has cross-head screws. It looks like someone's unscrewed it, or has tried to, but the engine bay still has the original paint, so I guess they're the original screws. Looks like it was glued on too, before it was painted?

Your tag is properly mounted, they did not start using rivets until 1966.

Then mine must have been rivit'd on by a previous owner cause it definitely had rivets holding it on.
