Vintage Steel Wheel Source

That is pricey in my opinion.

I been lucky and I have managed to find about 6 rims on ebay in good nik over the last year. The price has ranged from about $45 to $85. They do come up just got to keep searching.
Before and after hoop changes.

Those won't help for what he is looking for.

What's the width on your last pics and what were they off of?

The top pic is of 4 standard K rims with a rim width of about 5.5" width. I then had them rehooped. The second pic is of of a 4.5" wide rim. The third is of a 8" wide rim and the last pic is of a 10" rim.

The new hoops also help a bit with better brake to rim clearance if you are upgrading to disc brakes.

I suspect they must have come of a A100 van or pick up. Almost all the rims I have picked up off ebay have been incorrectly described by the sellers.

Here you can see the difference between stock hoop profile and the new one:

Just recently went through this. I've had bad luck with used wheels (bent / untrue) so wanted new, nothing out there for the big caps. Best deal I found was Summit, $94 for 15x6. Basically did the same thing as 62Max, installed 3 screws on each wheel for cap mounting, worked great. What I did: The big cap is 1" diameter larger than small, I made a little drill guide to locate the holes 1/2" from the nubs. Used 1/4"-20 x 1/2"long pan head screws which have the proper 1/2" rounded head. Use 13/64" (#7) drill & tap. Then just set the proper screw height & go, you don't need to lock the screws because the caps hold them.

Screws I used-

FYI, I used this stuff to paint my wheels, 2 cans for 4 wheels worked nicely-

First off, I really appreciate all the replies!

King Kong, I remember guys making their own wheels back in the day and didn't know it was still being done. Good idea!

I'm not too concerned about hub cap installation because I won't be useing them. I like the "race ready" look. Also I'll paint them the same as the car's color. I'm leaning toward the "Wheel Vintiques" for economic reasons first, just to get her on the road.

This thread will make a good resource for others looking for steel wheel options. Thanks again!

I epoxied smaller, late model caps inside the larger older ones to get the early cap look on the Wheel Vintiques wheels.

The wheel vintiques are a really good value if you're not doing a full on restoration that has to be perfect.

I looked at re-hooping my wheel centres to go 15" but it was ridiculous in cost. I went the Wheel Vintiques way, and further modified them so the full sized spinner hubcap (for 14" wheel) would fit the new 15" wheels as outlined here -

I went with 15" x 7" on front and 15" x 8" with 4.5" BS on back.

Wow Frank! That's taking it in another direction. I would have never known you were running 15" wheels.

I have the wheel vintiques on the rear of my 65 Plymouth, I have oem 's on the front. the rears are 15x8. I use the smaller dog dish, also from wheel vintique, but watch for excess powder coat on wheels, its so thick on the area of the nubs that hold the dog dish on, they pop right off! hat to take a wire brush and triangular file to remove some of the powder coat in order for the lug cover to grab. otherwise they will come off and go rolling down the road. and at like 30$ a pop it can get pricey real quick! no problem with original oem wheels, dog dish really grabs on and wont come off!

Got this two weeks ago!! from Stockton wheels 15 x10 with a 5 inch back space $175.00 plus $15.00 shipping... only needed one already had one.

Nice! Did you do wheelweel work to get those to fit? Move springs inboard?

Yeah, that was the whole point of the exercise. It's not until somebody looks closer to realise it's got 275s on the back (and the grip to match...)

Absolutely love that car!!!

The only other way to get the large hubcap center on the 15" is to use Dodge D100 van rims. They are scarce but still out there.
